The number of occupation types that are subject to the job registration requirement is rising again compared with previous years. In 2025, 6.5% of the working population will be active in occupations that have to be registered. Among the new occupations that are subject to the job registration requirement from 2025 are sales and marketing managers and restaurant service staff.

The number of unemployed people fell month-on-month in March by 2,877 (-2.1%) to 132,569. Compared to the same month last year, unemployment has risen by 23,976 (+22.1%). The unemployment rate remained stuck at 2.9% in March.

In March 2025, labour market experts anticipated a continued rise in unemployment in the next three months and a slight fall in employment .However, the expected increase in unemployment is less sharp than in the previous month. The overall Swiss Labour Market Barometer stood at 98.4 – which is still the highest score recorded so far this year.
