Neues Auszahlungssystem der Arbeitslosenkassen: Aufruf zur Nutzung der eServices
Over the year-end period 2025/2026, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) implemented the last and most extensive step in the rollout of the new ASAL 2.0 system for the processing and payment of unemployment benefits. Unemployment benefit claimants were informed early on (starting in October 2025) about the launch of this new payment system over the year-end period.
Since 6 January 2026, the unemployment insurance funds have been working exclusively with the new ASAL 2.0 payment system, which is the new centralised platform for the processing and payment of unemployment benefits. The rollout of this system is a key milestone in the digitalisation and continuing development of unemployment insurance in Switzerland.
Technical issues largely resolved
A number of technical issues occurred during the launch phase. While they have since largely been resolved by SECO specialists, they have caused a backlog at the unemployment insurance funds. In addition, the rollout of ASAL 2.0 has resulted in a temporary increase in operational workload for the unemployment insurance funds and therefore to longer claim processing times.
Payments are guaranteed
Entitlement to unemployment benefit is guaranteed by law. This will continue to apply in full during the current rollout and stabilisation phase. There is no need for claimants to follow up with their unemployment insurance funds.
In accordance with Article 30 of the Unemployment Insurance Ordinance (UIO), unemployment benefit is generally paid within the month following submission of the claim. At the current time, SECO assumes that payment is guaranteed within the legally stipulated period. If anything should change in this regard, SECO will provide timely updates.
Digital transmission for faster payment
To help ensure that unemployment benefit is paid out as quickly as possible, SECO recommends systematically submitting the form ‘Details regarding insured person‘ via the relevant eService on the jobs and service platform Job-Room. Submitting this information in digital form allows the details to be processed more efficiently and helps the unemployment insurance funds gradually reduce their current high workload. SECO will be sending out an email directly to unemployment benefit claimants on 20 January 2026.
